SING WITH THE MIDLANDS' MOST EXCITING OPERA COMPANY!

To quote from a recent review.. 'It’s so good to see Midland Opera bouncing back after a long hard look at itself. A result is the spectacularly increasing size of its membership and the quality of the principals it attracts.'

RECRUITING NOW

There are vacancies in all sections but we are currently particularly seeking:
2 x 1st Tenor
2 x second tenor
Comments from our recent Verdi concerts include...'a great joy to be part of the evening and the experience'...'such a lovely group, you all have true soul'...'there were moments I doubt you get any better on a professional stage anywhere'...
See our reviews page for more - you could be part of this too!
Call 07971 673 060 to find out more. Or Email.

Company Rehearsals

We meet each Thursday from 8pm to 10pm at St. George's Church, Highfield Road Edgbaston B15 3DQ . Location Map

Feel free to come along to rehearsals to meet us and see what we are about.
You will be made most welcome!

Singing as a chorus member

Chorus singers are assessed informally, within company rehearsals over a period of weeks while they settle in. They are not asked to sing individually, unless they wish to. The ability to sing and keep a line is essential. Sight-singing is useful. Chorus CDs are often available to aid learning.
Call 07971 673 060 to find out more. Or Email.

Singing principal roles and solos

Auditions for operatic roles are formal and heard by an audition panel. External singers are encouraged to audition. Acting ability, Vocal skill and experience, along with physical suitability is assessed.
Members wishing to sing concert solos will be heard by the Musical Director during a rehearsal evening.
Auditions for principals and other parts in this year's production of Tales of Hoffman will be held in March. Details of audition arrangements are now available via the Members' page, or by clicking HERE

Call 07971 673 060 to register interest in opera auditions. Or Email.

There are three kinds of membership:

Opera member £95.
Half-year (concert-only) member £50.
Members in their first year £50.

Student membership £25.

Stagehands and set painters are welcomed warmly. And, for them, membership is not necessary.
